One of the gen-ed classes I need to take to graduate is Sociology 210. The first paper this semester is an analysis of a common social structure in the vein of the three major paradigms of sociological theory. I just submitted my paper today, but I’m kind of proud of the first half of my introductory paragraph:
Social media is much older than the decade and a half that it’s been prevalent online. Anyone who was a teenager in the 80s and 90s probably knew someone who produced a ‘zine. That kid spent his or her evenings at the library, plugging nickels and dimes into the copy machines to further their personal endeavor in guerrilla journalism.
